A carpenter was remanded to prison on Wednesday after being charged with the murder of his friend.

Emmanuel Ramsammy, known as “Scooty and Joel,” 32, of Lot 21 King Street, Belvedere Village, Corentyne Berbice, appeared at the Reliance Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Michelle Matthias.

The charge alleges that between Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2, 2025, Ramsammy murdered 56-year-old Emran Kadir.

Ramsammy, who was unrepresented, did not enter a plea to the indictable charge.

During court proceedings, Police Prosecutor Mark Edwards informed the court that the case file is incomplete, and he requested two weeks to finalize it.

Magistrate Matthias emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating it is not a bailable offense, and ordered Ramsammy to be remanded to prison.

The case has been transferred to the Albion Magistrates Court for a hearing on November 18th.

According to police reports, Kadir, also known as “Shut Pon Shoulder,” along with Ramsammy, were consuming alcohol together when an altercation broke out.

The following morning, Kadir was found motionless at his residence, prompting the reporting of the incident to the police.

An investigation ensued, leading to Ramsammy’s arrest and charged.
