A two-year-old boy from the riverain community of Moraikobai, Mahaicony Creek, Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), is feared to have drowned after going for a swim with his siblings on Saturday.
The child has been identified as Kevin Jacobs.
According to reports, young Jacobs was swimming in the creek with his siblings when he suddenly went missing. It is believed that no one noticed when he went under the water. Despite immediate efforts to locate him, searches so far have proven unsuccessful.
Toshao of Moraikobai, Derrick John, confirmed the incident but said details remain limited as the search continues.
Police ranks from Region Five have since travelled to the community to assist with the ongoing search and conduct investigations into the incident.
