An 83-74 victory for Guyana against Jamaica on the final night of the FIBA Caribbean Women’s Basketball Championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown secured the country’s qualification to the 2026 CentroBasket Women’s Championship.

With the victory, Guyana copped silver, finishing the five-team tournament with three wins and a loss.

Virgin Islands with a perfect record of 4-0 won gold, while Bahamas with two wins and two defeats took bronze.

Guyana closed strong in front of a partisan home crowd, defeating Jamaica in the game that secured the second spot and a ticket to the next major tournament.

After a tight first half, the hosts took control thanks to standout performances from Ruth Adams and Joy Brown. Adams led all scorers with 24 points, while Brown posted a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds.

For Jamaica, Tiffany Reynolds stood out with a line of 23 points, six rebounds and five assists.

In the earlier game, Virgin Islands once again showcased their superiority, closing out the tournament with a flawless record by defeating Bahamas 105-81 to secure the gold medal.

Anisha George delivered a colossal performance with a 26-point, 21-rebound double-double. She knocked down 10 of her 13 attempts for a stellar 77 percent shooting clip.

Imani Tate (22 points, six rebounds, six assists) and J-Naya Ephraim (17 points, six assists, four rebounds) also stood out for the champions.

The Bahamas finished in third place, and despite the setback, Lashann Higgs and Valerie Nesbitt impressed with 37 and 32 points, respectively.
