Firearm found at abandoned lot in Lethem

Police ranks in Region Nine (Upper Takutu- Upper Essequibo) found a firearm at an abandoned plot of land in Tabatinga, Lethem, on Wednesday.

During an operation in the area, ranks reportedly searched an abandoned plot of land. As the search was being conducted, a man was seen running into nearby bushes. Ranks gave chase, but he made good his escape and is currently being sought.

A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of a suspected .38 revolver and four (4) matching rounds of ammunition wrapped in a jersey.

The firearm and ammunition were processed and lodged as investigations continue.
