A second life has been lost in Friday’s horrific accident at Number 63 Village, Corentyne Berbice, as 31-year-old teacher Jerome Bernard succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Bernard, of Brighton Village, was the driver of minibus BAB 7570, which was transporting teachers and students returning home from a sports event in Corriverton. He suffered severe head injuries and multiple trauma and passed away at the Georgetown Public Hospital at approximately 17:50 hrs.

News of his death plunged his family into anguish, with relatives left shattered and struggling to process the sudden loss.

Meanwhile, the tragedy continues to unfold for several young students. Two girls remain in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while a third critically injured girl is being treated at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. Additional students and teachers are still receiving care at the Number 75 Hospital.

On Friday night, 16-year-old Jodea Seline of Limlair Village was the first to die following the crash. Her younger sister, 13-year-old Jennia Seline, is currently hospitalised and recovering from her injuries.
