CANU seizes cocaine and ganja in Berbice operation

Ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) intercepted a significant quantity of illegal narcotics during an operation near Sandaka Dam, Corentyne, Berbice.

According to CANU, officers acting on intelligence received on Thursday, intercepted a suspect travelling on a motorcycle. A search of the individual revealed a parcel containing 12.1 grams of cocaine. A subsequent search of the surrounding area uncovered two large parcels containing approximately 30 kilograms of cannabis.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the seized drugs. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities work to determine the source and intended distribution of the narcotics.

CANU continues to urge members of the public to report any suspicious activity related to illegal drugs to assist in ongoing enforcement efforts.
