‘Our government always delivers’ –  Pres. Ali urges Guyanese to look beyond a Christmas cash grant

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Thursday reaffirmed that the PPP/C Government remains steadfast in meeting its commitments, telling reporters that Guyanese can expect “major announcements” shortly, even as public anticipation builds around a possible year-end cash grant.

Speaking moments after the swearing-in of Regional Chairpersons and their deputies for all nine administrative regions, the President was asked for an update on the promised cash support.

“Our government always delivers,” President Ali said, stressing that his administration’s track record speaks for itself.

But he was clear that the government’s next raft of measures would extend far beyond a single payout.

According to the President, Guyanese should brace for a comprehensive package aimed at strengthening household welfare, expanding economic opportunity, and deepening national development.

“And whilst you may restrict your thoughts to just a cash bonus,” he told reporters, “this government has a very elaborate agenda for the upliftment of your life—for the improvement of your life, for building prosperity for you, for building prosperity for your community.”

He went on to list several areas where citizens will see continued and expanded support, highlighting access to quality health care and education, improved infrastructure, home ownership initiatives, reduced interest rates, and business development loans and grants that require no collateral.

The President also referenced wider investments in school feeding programmes, textbooks, community facilities, women’s health services, and cancer detection and treatment—programmes he said form part of the government’s holistic push to improve the quality of life across every region.

Emphasising the need for Guyanese to view development in broader terms, President Ali cautioned against fixating only on the prospect of a cash grant.

“Don’t narrow your thinking. Don’t narrow your approach to life to just one facet of what the government will deliver,” he asserted.
“There are many facets of what your government will deliver to you.”

President Ali maintained that the coming announcements will demonstrate the administration’s continued commitment to ensuring that growth, prosperity, and opportunity reach every citizen.
