The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) last weekend hosted a high-level leadership workshop as part of its ongoing implementation of FIFA Forward Programme 3.0, FIFA’s flagship development framework aimed at strengthening governance, inclusivity and sustainability within national football associations.

The workshop was led by the Rights of the Child Commission and engaged regional executives from the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) and the Georgetown Football Association (GFA).

Discussions centered on advancing gender equality in football leadership, strengthening child protection mechanisms, and embedding inclusive governance practices in line with FIFA standards.

The session was facilitated by Commissioner Nicole Cole, a Constitutional Commissioner sitting on both the Women and Gender Equality Commission and the Rights of the Child Commission.

Also in attendance were Andre Gonzales, CEO of the Rights of the Child Commission, and Bryan Joseph, Technical Director of the GFF, highlighting strong collaboration between football development, national safeguarding institutions, and policy leadership.

This workshop reflects the GFF’s broader strategic approach under FIFA Forward 3.0 to not only invest in infrastructure and competitions, but also to build strong institutions, ethical leadership, and safe environments that protect participants and grow the game sustainably.

The Guyana Football Federation extends sincere appreciation to the Rights of the Child Commission and the participating EDFA and GFA executives for their leadership and commitment to shaping a more equitable, inclusive, and rights-based future for Guyanese football.
