Taxi driver arrested for chopping neighbour


A 31-year-old taxi driver was arrested after he reportedly chopped his 52-year-old neighbour to the head during an altercation on Sunday.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 00:30hrs at Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
The victim, a labourer is admitted in a stable condition at the Enmore Regional Hospital. Both men are from Enmore.
According to reports, the two men were involved in a verbal argument which led to a physical altercation. During the altercation the taxi driver allegedly managed to take a cutlass that was in the possession of the 52-year-old and dealt a chop to the left side of his head.
The 52-year-old collapsed a short distance away and was later observed by ranks on mobile patrol who immediately transported him to the Enmore Regional Hospital.
The 31-year-old suspect was later arrested at the Enmore Police Station and escorted to the same hospital for medical attention.
Investigations are ongoing.
