107 mining operations suspended

The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) on Monday announced that 107 mining operations, all involving Brazilian nationals, have been suspended.

Further to the public notice issued on 2 January 2026, requiring named individuals to present themselves to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), notice is hereby given that the following persons are subject to the immediate suspension of all mining operations, Permissions to Operate, and any related authorizations.

Such suspension takes effect immediately and shall remain in force pending the affected persons’ engagement with, and compliance to the satisfaction of, the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission.

This notice is issued without prejudice to any further regulatory or enforcement action which the Commission may lawfully pursue.
