The Guyana Police Force released updated crime statistics for the year 2025, noting that there were 130 murders and 137 road traffic deaths throughout the year.

See below full statement from the Guyana Police Force:

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) advises that 130 murders, and 124 accidents which resulted in 137 road traffic deaths, have been recorded for the year 2025.

The Force emphasises that annual crime and traffic statistics are subject to a structured process of compilation, verification, and approval prior to public release. This process is essential to ensure that all figures are accurate, complete, and fully reconciled across all divisions.

While crime trends and provisional data were presented during the Christmas Policing briefing in November 2025, the reporting year was not yet formally closed, and the data was still undergoing final verification.

The Guyana Police Force is committed to releasing accurate and verifiable information to the media.
