In a ceremony held at the National Training Centre (NTC), the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has distributed over GYD $4.9 million in prize money to clubs and individuals following the recent year-end tournaments.

According to a GFF  press release, the event, led by GFF Vice President Dion Inniss and General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, serves as a testament to the Federation’s commitment to incentivising excellence and providing financial stability to its member clubs.

The Women’s Division One League Cup provided further evidence of the burgeoning technical quality in the Guyanese women’s game.

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) solidified their position at the pinnacle of the sport, completing a historic domestic double.

Having secured the league title with an unblemished record earlier in the season, the GDF ladies defeated rivals Guyana Police Force (GPF) 2-0 in a professional final performance.

Strikes from Shenessa Cornelius and Glendy Lewis ensured the trophy returned to Camp Ayanganna, along with the  $300,000 top prize.

Women’s Division One Team Cash Prizes:

    • 1st Place – Guyana Defence Force FC: GYD $300,000
    • 2nd Place – Guyana Police Force FC: GYD $200,000
    • 3rd Place – Santos FC: GYD $100,000
    • 4th Place – Fruta Conquerors FC: GYD $50,000

The men’s Super 16 Cup concluded with a narrative of resilience as Western Tigers pulled off a major upset against the previously unbeaten Slingerz FC.

A late 89th-minute strike from veteran Trinidad and Tobago international Kevon ‘Showtime’ Woodley secured the $2M winner’s cheque for the “Giant Killers.”

Woodley’s heroics earned him both the Golden Ball (MVP) and Golden Boot awards, highlighting the impact of experienced regional talent on the domestic league’s competitiveness.

Super 16 Cup Team Cash Prizes:

    • 1st Place – Western Tigers FC: $2,000,000

    • 2nd Place – Slingerz FC:  $1,000,000

    • 3rd Place – Guyana Defence Force FC: $750,000
    • 4th Place – Guyana Police Force FC: $500,000
    Individual Cash Prizes:
    • Golden Ball (MVP): Kevon Woodley — $100,000
    • Golden Boot (Top Goal Scorer): Kevon Woodley —  $75,000
    • Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper): Joel Yhap — $75,000
To synchronise with FIFA international match windows and the global transfer market, the GFF Elite League will transition to an August-to-April calendar starting with the 2026–2027 season.

To bridge the gap during this transition, the Federation confirmed an Elite League Cup to be contested in February and March 2026.

“This ceremony reflects our commitment to strengthening both the men’s and women’s game,” GFF leadership noted during the presentation.

“By incentivising performance and aligning our calendar with global standards, we are laying the groundwork for Guyana to be increasingly competitive on the international stage.”
