The National Sports Commission (NSC) has begun a comprehensive series of meetings with all sport associations affiliated to the commission, signalling a proactive start to the 2026 sporting calendar.

The engagement process is being spearheaded by Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, who will be joined by other members of the commission as the NSC continues its mandate of sustained dialogue and collaboration with the national sporting bodies.

According to Ninvalle, the meetings form part of the NSC’s ongoing engagement strategy, with added significance as they mark the first structured interaction with associations for the new year.

Ninvalle explained that the meetings are designed to provide a platform for associations to clearly outline their plans and objectives for 2026, both at the local and international levels.

He noted that the commission is particularly interested in understanding each association’s competition schedule, development programmes, and administrative goals, while also identifying areas where the NSC can provide meaningful support.

“The intention is for associations to come prepared to discuss their plans for 2026, including their local activities and international engagements, and to outline how the National Sports Commission can assist them in achieving their goals,” Ninvalle said.

He stressed that the series of meetings is imperative to the effective coordination and development of sport across the country, and underscored the importance of full participation by all affiliated bodies.

“It is critically important that associations not only make every effort to attend these meetings, but that they come with a clear plan,” Ninvalle emphasised.

“These discussions will help shape how we move forward together in a structured and productive manner.”

Ninvalle also confirmed that the NSC will be reaching out directly to all affiliated associations to confirm the dates and times for their respective meetings.

He added that the commission remains committed to fostering transparency, accountability, and strategic planning as it works alongside stakeholders to strengthen the national sports landscape in 2026 and beyond.

The first set of meetings on Tuesday featured Archery Guyana and the Guyana Sport Shooting Federation. The Guyana Badminton Association and the Guyana Blind Cricket Association are slated to meet with the commission next.
