A devastating spell of spin bowling from Seon Bovell and a virtuoso performance in the field by skipper John Ramsingh propelled FL Sport to an emphatic 67-run victory over Tourism Guyana in their ‘Fete Match’ clash at Lusignan on Saturday.

Despite a middle-order wobble that saw them bowled out for 123, FL Sport’s intensity in the second innings proved too much for a Tourism Guyana side that never found its rhythm in a chase that lasted just 13.1 overs.

On a surface that rewarded disciplined lines, FL Sport opted to bat first but found progress difficult against Tourism Guyana’s coordinated attack.

Rohan Sukhnandan (3-24) led the way with a nagging length, supported by two-wicket bursts from Anand Bharrat, Nyron Maraj, and Denesh Singh.

However, Deonarine Dindyal provided the necessary momentum with a brisk 21 off 16 balls. His two “towering” sixes ensured the scoreboard kept moving, while Nathaniel Ramkhelawan (20) and Dravid Manohar (15) chipped in with useful cameos to drag the total to a competitive 123.

Seon Bovell was deemed the best bowler

Tourism Guyana’s reply was derailed almost immediately. While Devaughn Nandan (13) attempted a brief recovery, the introduction of Seon Bovell turned a difficult chase into an impossible one. Bovell’s figures of 4 for 6 from 3.1 overs told the story of a lower-order capitulation as he found pace and bounce that the opposition could not handle.

Dindyal capped off a fine all-round game by chipping in with 3 for 14, but the afternoon belonged to the fielders.

Skipper John Ramsingh set the tone with three high-quality catches in the deep, while wicketkeeper Ronaldo Mc Garrell produced a sharp catch behind the stumps to keep the pressure mounting.

By the time Bovell took the final wicket, Tourism Guyana had been bundled out for 56, handing FL Sport a comprehensive victory and the Fete Match trophy. (Modified FL Sport Press Release)
