Fourth place finish for Guyana in T20 Blaze after narrow loss to T&T

Starting the tournament as reigning champions, Guyana ended the 2026 Cricket West Indies’ T20 Blaze in fourth position, losing their third place playoff game against Trinidad and Tobago by seven runs at the Arnos Vale Playing Field on Friday.

On the final day of the T20 segment of the Senior Women’s Regional tournament, Leeward Islands defeated Barbados in the final to lift the title, while Jamaica won the fifth place playoff against Windward Islands.

In the third place playoff, Trinidad and Tobago, led by 46 off 44 (6x4s) from Britney Cooper, posted 104-7 with off-spinner taking 4-15, leg-spinner Danielle Manns 2-14 and off-spinner Plaffiana Millington 1-27.

Munisar finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps.

In reply, Guyana made 97 all out from 19.4 overs with Shabika Gajnabi making a run-a-ball 32 (2x4s), opener Realeanna Grimmond 20 off 10 (3x4s, 1×6), Latoya Williams 13 off 27 (1×4) and Sheneta Grimmond 12 off 11 (2x4s).

Bowling for Trinidad and Tobago, Karishma Ramharack (3-13), Lee-Ann Kirby (2-10), Shalini Samaroo (2-16) and Anisa Mohammed (2-17) were the wicket-takers.

Guyana had finished fourth in the round-robin phase of the tournament, with two victories and three defeats.

FIFTH PLACE PLAYOFF: Jamaica defeated Windward Islands by 10 wickets 

SUMMARY: Windward Islands 62-9 from 20 overs (Zaida James 24; Vanessa Watts 3-5, Stafanie Taylor 2-13) vs Jamaica 65-0 from 3.4 overs (Chedean Nation 23*, Rashada Williams 21*). Notably, Windward Islands left-arm seamer Selena Ross, opening the bowling, conceded 44 runs in the first over, inclusive of seven no-balls and eight wides. Ross bowled 21 deliveries in the over, which lasted approximately 20 minutes.

The teams now switch focus to the CG United Super50 tournament, which will be played over three rounds from January 27-31.
