Police have confirmed that six individuals have been charged following investigations into the death of wanted man, Jamal Bourne, whose final moments were captured in a video that later circulated widely on social media.

The News Room was informed that Shilon Nurse will appear in court to face charges of possession of a firearm without a licence and possession of ammunition without a licence.

Nurse also faces charges jointly with Sasha Lyken, Osaffo Thomas, Tyron Gill, Yashua Angoy, and Latanya Rambharrat for failing to report an unnatural death.

Police said the charges will be read to the accused, who are currently in custody, before they are placed before a magistrate on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The charges follow investigators submitting their file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Thursday, January 23, 2026, and receiving legal advice.

The charges follow a police operation conducted on Wednesday at Three Miles, Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden, where investigators recovered what are believed to be burnt human remains.

Police Headquarters confirmed that a burnt area was examined during the operation, and suspected ashes and bones believed to be those of Bourne were discovered and secured for forensic analysis.

During the same operation, Police searched a nearby wooden structure and found a number of items, including a suspected pistol with an empty magazine, three shotgun cartridges, a suspected spent 9mm shell, knives, clothing and other items of interest. Police also recovered three toy rifles from nearby bushes.

The accused were arrested during the Police operation.

Investigators were previously informed that after Bourne reportedly shot himself, they transported his body to nearby bushes and burnt it. Police were further told that the remains were later removed from the area and dumped into a creek.

Bourne reportedly shot himself during a live Facebook video. The video has since gone viral, prompting widespread public concern and a Police investigation.
