A 29-year-old motorcyclist has been fined a total of $80,000 after pleading guilty to multiple traffic offences stemming from a serious accident that occurred last week along the East Bank Demerara involving a Police rank.

Teion Clarke of Middle Road, East La Penitence, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 23, 2026, where several charges were read to him.

The accident occurred at about 08:10 hrs on Thursday, January 22, 2026, on the Diamond Public Road and involved a woman police inspector.

Clarke admitted to six traffic violations. He was fined $5,000 for failing to stop when directed by a police officer in uniform, $5,000 for riding a motorcycle without a safety helmet, and $5,000 for breaching a one-way roadway.

He was also fined $7,500 for driving without a valid licence and $7,500 for operating an uncertified motor vehicle.

The largest penalty, $50,000, was imposed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

In total, Clarke was ordered to pay $80,000 in fines.
