Motorcyclist dies in Corentyne accident

Tragedy struck on Monday afternoon when a 21-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in an accident along the Number 64 Village Public Road, Corentyne.

The deceased has been identified as Jagdeo Bhimsingh, an overseas-based Guyanese national.

According to reports, Bhimsingh was riding his motorcycle when he collided with motor car PKK 5792, which was driven by a 60-year-old man from Number 64 Village.

Following the collision, Bhimsingh was thrown onto the parapet and sustained injuries about his body. He was assisted by public-spirited citizens who found him unconscious and transported him to the Number 75 Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police conducted a breathalyzer test on the driver of the car, which revealed alcohol levels of 7 and 8 micrograms. The driver is currently in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
