Sophia resident dies in accident along Rockstone Trail


Steve George, a resident of Sophia, Georgetown, died on Wednesday after he was involved in an accident along the Rockstone Trail, Linden.
According to Police Headquarters, George and a 25-year-old driver of motorcar PAD 1602 were travelling along the trail. The driver was reportedly speeding and, around 10:11 hrs, lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle subsequently ended up on the northern side of the trail, turned turtle several times before coming to a halt at the centre of the roadway facing west.
“As a result of the incident, the occupant [George] received injuries about his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty,” the Police release noted.
George’s body is presently lying at the Linden Hospital Complex awaiting a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the driver of the motor car is presently in Police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
