Azruddin Mohamed was absent when the committal hearing in the extradition case against him and his father was called at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning. Nazar and attorneys for both the defense and prosecution were present.

Attorney Roysdale Forde told the court that Mohamed had fallen ill on Monday, sought medical attention, and underwent examinations and lab tests, which reportedly confirmed a diagnosis of dengue. According to Forde, the attending doctor advised 12 days of rest, and a medical report was presented to the magistrate.

He added that Mohamed was experiencing fever, chills, and severe headaches, and was unable to appear either in person or via Zoom due to his condition and the effects of medication, which made him drowsy and incoherent.

Magistrate Judy Latchman, noting the circumstances, stated that the medical report was issued by Dr. Dalip of a medical centre on Sandy Babb Street, Kitty.

She subsequently issued a summons for the doctor to appear before the court at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, indicating that she intends to ask several questions regarding the report.
