Man, 25, arrested after suspected stolen motorcycle recovered

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday after he was allegedly found in possession of a suspected stolen motorcycle and a gel gun.
In a statement, Police Headquarters said ranks from the Farm/Herstelling Police Station were conducting patrol duties along the Bagotstown/Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara, at about 04:20 hrs when they observed the man riding a motorcycle bearing trade plates.
Police said the ranks signalled the motorcyclist to stop, but he allegedly rode away. He later fell from the motorcycle at Flour Mill Road, East Bank Demerara, where he was apprehended.
The suspect was subsequently escorted to the Farm/Herstelling Police Station along with the motorcycle and a haversack containing several items.
Police said further investigations revealed that the motorcycle is suspected to have been stolen and is believed to be linked to a report made in Regional Police Division #3.
Investigators also conducted a search of the man’s residence, during which a suspected gel gun was discovered.
The motorcycle, haversack, items, and suspected gel gun have since been lodged as investigations continue. The suspect remains in custody, assisting Police with the investigation.
