Guyana looks to ‘global future’ as GFF President talks broadcast and development at FIFA summit

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has wrapped up what it calls a “productive” stint at the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2026 in Miami, with big-screen broadcasting and grassroots development high on the agenda.
GFF President Wayne Forde and General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay were stateside as FIFA gathered all 211 member associations on the sidelines of the ongoing World Cup.
While the elite of world football battled it out on the pitch, the administrative focus in Miami was firmly fixed on the game’s future.
High on the priority list for the Guyanese delegation were talks on the FIFA Forward 4.0 Programme—FIFA’s financial engine for infrastructure and governance—alongside discussions on upcoming youth tournaments such as the FIFA Under-15 World Cup.
But it was a sideline meeting that could signal the most modern shift for Guyanese football.
The GFF delegation held exclusive talks with digital sports streaming giant DAZN—FIFA’s official digital platform partner—to explore broadcasting and streaming opportunities that could bring Guyanese football to a much wider global audience.
“Participation in forums such as the FIFA Executive Football Summit remains critical to ensuring Guyana remains aligned with international best practices,” Forde said, reflecting on the summit. He added that the federation is looking to “identify new opportunities to accelerate football development at all levels”.
The GFF also held meetings with FIFA’s Member Associations division, led by Jair Bertoni and regional lead Jordan Victoire, focusing heavily on governance, compliance, and collaborative regional initiatives.
With the global game evolving rapidly, the GFF will hope these Miami meetings provide the blueprint—and the investment—needed to elevate local football and create lasting pathways for the next generation of Guyanese talent. (Modified Press Release)
