26 restaurants bring special blend of flavour to Guyana Restaurant Week

A new era of culinary creativity is set to unfold at the 19th edition of Guyana Restaurant Week, with 26 establishments prepared to deliver exciting new dishes alongside fan-favourite recipes when the event opens its doors on June 19.
Held under the theme “Explore, Eat, Repeat,” the 10-day celebration runs from June 19 to June 28 and is organised jointly by the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) and the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA). Over the years, Guyana Restaurant Week has become a staple event for Guyanese and international travellers alike.
The event, spearheaded by THAG in collaboration with the Guyana Tourism Authority and numerous sponsors, began in 2014 with just 11 restaurants. It has since grown steadily into one of the country’s most anticipated culinary showcases, expanding beyond Georgetown to include restaurants across several regions.
One of the highlights of this year’s edition is a special collaboration at Peruvian restaurant Nikkei, born out of a partnership between THAG and the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. Nikkei’s Executive Chef Victor Padron will be joining forces with Barbadian Chef Shanese Phoenix for a one-night grand dining event. Yonnick David, one of Nikkei’s owners said that while Nikkei’s team is exceptional in their own right, the collaborative evening will truly capture the culture and art of cooking in a way that sets the experience apart.
“Guests can expect a very interesting experience. Barbados is coming with a lot of spice, a lot of seafood…we have an El Dorado tamarind dessert that we will be preparing,” David said.

THAG’s President Mitra Ramkumar said the new restaurants joining this edition bring fresh perspectives to dining in Guyana.
“You have something to look forward to. The chefs have been creative and each restaurant you will be able to get a taste of that creativity,” he said.
The event also coincides with International Sustainable Gastronomy Day, which highlights food as an expression of cultural diversity.
Participating restaurants curate special prix-fixe menus complemented by carefully selected wines, designed to entice new customers while keeping regular patrons coming back for more. Affordable gold and platinum dining options are available across the participating establishments. Diners can visit the Guyana Restaurant Week webpage at https://www.thag.co/grw/main for full details on menus and participating restaurants.
