Four arrested after 17 pounds of ganja found at Bladen Hall


Four persons are in police custody after ranks discovered more than 17 pounds of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation at the Bladen Hall Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police said the operation was conducted between 19:45 hrs and 20:20 hrs on Wednesday. During the exercise, ranks visited a property in the area and made contact with four occupants: a 51-year-old labourer, a 45-year-old vendor, a 26-year-old construction worker, all of Bladen Hall Squatting Area, and a 26-year-old woman of Vigilance, ECD.
A search of the premises was carried out, during which officers discovered a bulky black plastic bag concealed among vegetation in the yard. The bag contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The four occupants were arrested and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station along with the suspected narcotics.
Police said the substance was weighed in the presence of the suspects and amounted to 17.25 pounds before being lodged as evidence.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue and charges are being prepared.
