XM Rum signs as major sponsor for Global Super League

Local corporate giants Banks DIH Limited have thrown their considerable weight behind the upcoming ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) 2026, signing on as a major commercial partner ahead of the tournament’s third edition.
The agreement will see the manufacturer heavily activate its premium XM Rum brand throughout the tournament, capitalising on a prime window in the global T20 calendar to promote an internationally recognised local brand.
For the tournament organisers, anchoring the competition with homegrown commercial support remains a critical objective.
Sir Clive Lloyd, the legendary West Indies captain and current Chairman of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, noted that local corporate buy-in is pivotal to the league’s identity.
“As the Global Super League continues to grow in stature, it is immensely encouraging to see corporate Guyana remain steadfast in its support of the tournament,” Lloyd said.
“A key objective of the league is to showcase the vibrancy, culture, and potential of our beautiful country as it continues to strengthen its presence on the global stage. We are delighted to welcome XM Rum, one of Guyana’s most respected and iconic brands, to the GSL family.
Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence and national pride, and we are confident they will play an important role in helping us showcase the very best that Guyana has to offer to audiences around the world.”
Cricket and commercial partnerships have historically gone hand-in-hand in the Caribbean, a point emphasised by Banks DIH Limited Communications Executive Sonya Forrester, who underscored the company’s 70-year footprint in the region.
“Cricket and Banks DIH have something in common, we are both woven into the fabric of Guyanese life,” Forrester said.
“For over 70 years, Banks DIH has been part of the celebrations, the gatherings, and the proud moments that define who we are as a people.
The Global Super League is a natural home for our XM Rum brand, and we are proud to stand alongside an event that carries Guyana’s name and spirit onto the world stage.”
The brand is expected to host multiple giveaways throughout the matches, culminating in a grand giveaway at the final: a chest of XM Rum.
The multi-day event, which carries a hefty US$1 million prize pool, is scheduled to run from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.
The 2026 GSL lineup features a diverse five-team cross-section of global franchise cricket. Defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors of the CPL will host the Lahore Qalandars (PSL), Desert Vipers (ILT20), Perth Scorchers XI (BBL), and the San Francisco Unicorns, who arrive as the first Major League Cricket franchise to participate in the competition.
