Berbice ambulance driver found dead hours after being reported missing


The lifeless body of a West Coast Berbice man who had been reported missing was discovered in a bushy area at Catherine’s Lust on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as O’Neil Kacy McAlmond, 43, an ambulance driver of Barker Lane, Hopetown Village, West Coast Berbice.
According to information gathered, McAlmond left his home on Monday morning after completing his usual routine but failed to return. As concern grew over his absence, relatives made checks for him before eventually reporting him missing to the Fort Wellington Police Station later that evening.
The following day, family members received information that a man was seen lying motionless in a clump of bushes at Catherine’s Lust.
Relatives immediately travelled to the location and made the grim discovery. The body was identified as that of McAlmond.
Police were subsequently notified, and ranks visited the scene to conduct investigations. The area was processed as investigators sought to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death, and investigations remain ongoing.
