Two fishermen missing after vessel reportedly sinks

Two fishermen from Better Success, Region Two, are missing after their vessel reportedly sank during heavy winds while they were at sea on Wednesday.
The missing men have been identified as Suraj Moneer known as “Anil,” and his worker, called “Cheeky.”
A relative told the News Room that the men had left home to go fishing in a vessel, a routine activity for them. According to the relative, their fishing trips typically last about three days.
Family members reportedly remained in contact with the fishermen and spoke with them while strong winds were affecting the area. However, efforts to reach the men afterward proved unsuccessful, as repeated calls to their mobile phones went unanswered.
The vessel is believed to have sunk during the adverse weather conditions, and the two men have not been seen since.
Search efforts are currently underway as relatives and authorities seek to locate the missing fishermen. Family members remain hopeful that the men are alive and will be found safe.
Meanwhile, another fisherman, 57-year-old Swella Ramdial, Moneer’s father, who left home around the same time in a separate vessel, also experienced difficulties while at sea.
He, however, managed to swim ashore but both the boat and its engine were lost during the strong winds.
The search for Moneer and his crewmate continues.
