Three Brazilians fined $150,000 each for trespassing at Lethem Airstrip

Three Brazilian nationals have each been fined $150,000 after pleading guilty to trespassing on an aerodrome at the Lethem Airstrip in Central Rupununi.

The men – Jose Carlos Casto Bibeiro, 28, a mechanic from Terezina, Brazil; Clebson Raoni, 37, a carpenter from São Paulo, Brazil; and Lucis Silva Marth, 35, an operator from Boa Vista, Brazil – were charged with Trespassing on an Aerodrome.

The offence was committed on Wednesday at the Lethem Airstrip.

The defendants appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Friday. During the proceedings, the charge was read and translated to them by a court-appointed translator.
