Gov’t cuts land title processing time, more than 6,500 processed in first half of 2026

More than 6,500 land titles were processed in the first half of 2026, as the government ramps up efforts to speed up the delivery of land ownership documents to citizens within three months.
“Looking back at the last five years, we were able to process over 25,000 titles and this year alone, for the first six months, we have already processed over 6,500 titles,” Minister of Housing, Collin Croal said.
Speaking at the opening of the International Building Expo 2026, Croal said the milestone reflects the government’s commitment to improving service delivery amid the rapid expansion of its housing programme.
Croal explained that the aggressive housing drive has led to a significant increase in the number of land titles being generated by the Central Housing and Planning Authority.
While this is a sign of the programme’s success, he acknowledged that it has also placed added pressure on the Land Registry, resulting in longer processing times.
However, he said increased collaboration among government agencies has helped reduce the backlog.
He added that processing times have also been reduced from more than six months to approximately three months.
“We have now reduced the processing time from more than six months. We are working now within a three-month time frame,” Croal said.
The improvements, Croal said, are part of the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring citizens receive their land ownership documents in a timely manner.
