Businessman in custody over alleged kidnapping plot

Police are investigating an alleged attempt to commit kidnapping following an intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday.

In a release, Police Headquarters said ranks acted on information received and arrested a 36-year-old businessman of Alexander Village, Georgetown. The businessman allegedly arranged and handed over a sum of cash as part payment to have a man kidnapped.

He has been taken into custody, and a quantity of cash was lodged as evidence. Investigations are ongoing.
