High Court rules against GRA in Mohameds’ luxury vehicle tax case

The High Court ruled in favour of Hana Mohamed and Bibi Mohamed in a case brought against the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) over the imposition of taxes on two luxury vehicles.
On Thursday, Justice Gino Persaud ruled that the GRA did not act lawfully in the case involving the two remigrants, be it through the imposition of millions of dollars of taxes and the requirement to routinely report to the Authority.
Permanent injunctions were also granted, restraining the GRA from seizing the Ferrari and Rolls-Royce vehicles.
The court ordered the GRA to pay costs of $750,000 in each matter by August 13, 2026.
