Archery Guyana’s Saeed Karim benefits from advanced international training

Archery Guyana’s technical capacity has received a significant boost following Results Manager Saeed Karim’s successful participation in an advanced international scoring seminar in Mexico.
The intensive two-day course, hosted by World Archery Mexico in collaboration with World Archery Americas, took place in Tlaxcala just ahead of the Pan American Archery Championships.
Crucially for the local governing body, the sessions were led by Matteo Pisani—the inventor and co-founder of the IANSEO results management system.
The software is the global gold standard for the sport, utilised to manage scoring at everything from continental qualifiers to the Olympic Games.
Karim joined technical officials from powerhouse nations across the Americas, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and hosts Mexico, with the explicit focus of preparing officials to run elite World Ranking events.
“It was a great pleasure to learn directly from the inventor of IANSEO,” Karim said. “I now have a much deeper understanding of the software and how we can continue improving the standard of results management in Guyana. The opportunity to immediately apply what I learned at a world-ranking event made the experience even more valuable.”
That practical application came immediately. Karim remained in Tlaxcala to volunteer on the results team for the Pan American Championships, impressing enough to be appointed as an official scorer for the tournament’s high-stakes finals.
The exposure is a major step forward for the standard of local tournaments. Archery Guyana noted that building highly trained technical officials is essential to creating a sustainable, internationally aligned program capable of hosting major events in the future.
The federation expressed its appreciation to Pisani and the continental governing bodies, and offered profound gratitude to Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle and the National Sports Commission (NSC) for funding the venture.
According to Archery Guyana, the NSC’s continued investment in sports administration and capacity building proves a vital commitment to developing local sport well beyond the field of play.
