GCB President urges Under-19 team to ‘represent with pride’ at regional championship

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) president, Bissoondyal Singh, has urged the national Under-19 squad to maintain high standards of discipline and focus as they enter the final stages of preparation for the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Under-19 Championship.
Singh met with the squad and management at their training camp, ahead of the team’s scheduled departure for the regional tournament on July 9.
Addressing the players, Singh emphasised the significance of wearing the national colours, reminding the youth side of both the privilege and the accountability that accompanies regional selection.
He commended the work ethic demonstrated during the preparatory encampment and stressed the importance of collective responsibility on the field, urging the squad to play for one another and give their very best in every outing.
The tournament is widely viewed as a critical developmental stepping stone for young talent in the Caribbean, a point Singh reinforced by encouraging the players to embrace the platform to showcase their skillsets.
Reaffirming the board’s backing, the GCB president expressed full confidence in the team’s capabilities before wishing them a safe journey and a successful bid for regional honours.
