Guyanese photographer to win GSL internship via Laparkan

The ExxonMobil Global Super League (GSL), in partnership with Laparkan, Guyana’s Authorised Distributor of Canon, has launched the GSL Emerging Sports Photographer Competition, a new initiative aimed at discovering and developing the next generation of photography talent in Guyana.

The competition, which falls under the League ‘Super We’ campaign, recognises the important role photographers play in capturing the moments, emotions, and stories that define sport.

The overall winner will receive an exclusive GSL Sports Photography Internship, providing hands-on experience during the GSL tournament and events using a spanking new Canon EOS R6 Mark III, compliments of Laparkan.

As a key partner, Laparkan will help bring the project to life through the support of Canon photography equipment, giving participants exposure to some of the industry’s most trusted imaging technology.

The collaboration highlights Laparkan’s commitment to youth development, creativity, and sports while introducing aspiring photographers to professional-grade Canon cameras and equipment used around the world.

The competition is open to young Guyanese photographers under the age of 30, including amateurs, students, and emerging professionals.

Applicants will be required to submit a photography portfolio, a personal profile outlining their interest in photography and career goals, and a statement explaining why they wish to pursue sports photography.

The competition will run from July 7-11, 2026

Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel comprising professional photographers, media and communications professionals, and representatives from the creative arts sector.

Judging will focus on technical proficiency, creativity, composition, storytelling ability, and overall portfolio quality.

The internship will offer practical training in sports photography, event coverage, photo editing, content management, media operations, and visual storytelling.

Through the partnership between GSL and Laparkan, the initiative aims to create meaningful opportunities for young creatives while helping to strengthen the future of sports photography and visual storytelling in Guyana.
