Over 470,000 citizens get $100,000 cash grant; $47 billion injected into local economy

A total of 470,420 eligible Guyanese have received their $100,000 cash grant and Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh said this amounts to $47 billion being distributed directly to Guyanese.
The Finance Minister said the distribution has so far been conducted in phases. The primary method of distribution has been transfers into citizens’ bank accounts. Cheques have also been distributed to key groups, including shut-ins and residents of hinterland and other far-flung communities.
Now, Dr. Singh said citizens can visit the online cash grant portal and sign up to receive the cash grant via cheque. Once someone successfully registers for the grant via cheque online, they will be subsequently notified through the portal and/or via a phone call about pickup details.
However, he encouraged citizens to open bank accounts to enjoy safer, faster, and more convenient access to financial services in the future.
