Guyana Under-19 cricket team off to Antigua aiming to end regional title drought

The National Under-19 cricket team is off to Antigua and Barbuda, where they will compete in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Under-19 50-over Championship with a singular mission: reclaiming regional supremacy.
This year’s tournament features a revised format, focusing exclusively on the 50-over game, with the traditional red-ball segment omitted from the schedule.
The Guyanese squad is spearheaded by captain Parmeshwar Ram, with Romario Ramdeholl serving as vice-captain. The team is aiming to break a title drought that dates back to 2018.
Guyana previously enjoyed an unprecedented era of dominance in regional youth cricket, capturing five consecutive Under-19 championships between 2014 and 2018.
The South Americans will face an immediate litmus test when they open their campaign against arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, July 11.
They will then navigate a packed schedule, matching skills with Jamaica on July 13, Barbados on July 15, hosts Leeward Islands on July 18, and concluding against the Windward Islands on July 20. All matches are scheduled to bowl off at 09:30h.
Ahead of their departure, the GCB extended its best wishes to the travelling contingent, expressing immense confidence that the players and management will represent the Golden Arrowhead with pride, discipline, and the determination required to secure regional honours.
The squad is backed by a seasoned management team led by Manager Nazeer Mohamed, Head Coach Kumar Bishundial and Assistant Coach Antony Adams. (Modified Press Release)
