West Indies select Campbelle, Munisar, Mangru and Grimmond for Ireland ODI tour

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match Senior Women’s One-Day International tour of Ireland, with four Guyanese – Shemaine Campbelle, Mandy Mangru, Realeanna Grimmond and Ashmini Munisar – being included.
Grimmond replaces the injured pace-bowling allrounder Chinelle Henry, marking the solitary change to the roster that recently featured in the home Tri-series and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
West Indies will look to transition their recent T20 success into the longer format.
The quick turnaround follows a spirited T20 World Cup campaign where the West Indies defied expectations to reach the semi-finals.
However, the focus now pivots squarely back to fifty-over cricket.
This series marks the team’s third assignment in the current ICC Women’s Championship cycle—a crucial pipeline where every win translates directly into qualification points for the next ODI World Cup.
“Ireland would be a tough opponent in their conditions, and we need to adapt fast and make sure we play some good cricket,” Head Coach Shane Deitz said, emphasising the urgency of the upcoming window.
“These are valuable points for qualification… the next few series over the next six to eight months are really important for us to get some wins on the board.”
Captain Hayley Matthews, fresh off leading from the front globally, echoed the sentiment of shifting focus. “We’ve had a little bit of time to reflect on the World Cup and take the lessons from it,” Matthews noted. “Our focus is firmly on what’s ahead. Everyone is excited to get back out there.”
All three fixtures are scheduled to take place at the Bready Cricket Club, with the opening match bowling off on Friday, July 10. (Modified Press Release)
