Despite impressive individual performances from Shahid Ramzan, Mickel Sharma and Richard Ramdeholl, Guyana’s Top Level Cricket Academy suffered a 15-run defeat to Presentation College of Trinidad and Tobago on the opening day of the 2026 Sir Garfield Sobers International Under-19 Cricket Tournament at Briar Hall in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Presentation College were bowled out for 208 from their allotted 40 overs after squandering a commanding start. The Trinidadian side raced to 88-1 by the 17th over before Top Level Cricket Academy’s bowlers staged an impressive fightback.

Opener Jerome Reyad top-scored with a patient 53 from 80 deliveries, striking six fours and one six to anchor the innings. However, former Guyana Under-15 captain Ramdeholl led the Guyanese response with an outstanding spell of off-spin, claiming 4-44.

Leg-spinner Kaylan Callendar provided excellent support in the middle overs, returning figures of 2-22 from his eight overs, while Nicholas Lovell, Shane Prince and  Sharma picked up one wicket each.

Top Level Cricket Academy lost opener Kishawn Silas for three and Ramdeholl for 18 early in the innings before opener Ramzan and Trilok Nanan steadied the chase with a 53-run partnership for the third wicket. Nanan made 17 before being dismissed.

Rain then interrupted the chase, forcing a revision of the target to 178 from 34 overs.

Former Guyana Under-15 left-hander Ramzan anchored the innings with a determined 59 not out from 91 deliveries, an innings that included five fours and one six. Sharma then provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 40 from just 22 balls, smashing three sixes and two fours to keep his side in contention until the closing stages.

Despite their efforts, Top Level Cricket Academy finished on 163-7 from their allotted 34 overs, falling 15 runs short of the revised target.

Top Level Cricket Academy’s participation in the tournament has been made through support from the Guyana Police Force, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, ENet, L&L Construction, CopyFix and E Timbers.

The squad features talented young players from the Guyana Police Force Academy, Tucber Park Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club, Georgetown Cricket Club, Rose Hall Cricket Club, Malteenoes Cricket Club and Everest Cricket Club, highlighting the depth of emerging cricket talent across Guyana.
