Local tech startup aims to help Guyanese find trusted service providers

Finding a reliable plumber, electrician, contractor, Lawyer, accountant, or other service provider in Guyana has long depended on Facebook posts, WhatsApp groups and word of mouth recommendations.
A group of young Guyanese entrepreneurs believes technology can make that process easier.
RhysList, a locally developed online marketplace, has been created to connect customers with trusted service providers through one centralized platform. The platform allows businesses and independent professionals to showcase their services while enabling customers to search, compare, and contact providers directly.
The idea was born from a challenge experienced by many Guyanese, spending valuable time searching social media or relying solely on personal referrals to find someone trustworthy for a job.
Rather than replacing personal recommendations, the founders say RhysList is designed to build on them by giving every service provider a dedicated online profile where customers can view their services, contact them directly and, over time, help build their reputation through customer reviews and ratings.
“We realized there are thousands of hardworking tradespeople, professionals and small businesses across Guyana, but many still rely almost entirely on referrals to grow their businesses,” said RhysList founder Travis Desir.
“At the same time, customers spend valuable time searching for recommendations whenever they need a plumber, mechanic, lawyer, accountant, contractor or another service provider. We wanted to create a platform that helps both sides.”
Ahead of its official launch, more than 200 service providers have already registered across a broad range of industries, including plumbing, electrical services, construction, mechanics, cleaning, legal services, accounting, transportation, architecture, photography, information technology and other professional services.
The founders believe the platform reflects Guyana’s growing digital economy by providing local businesses with an affordable way to increase their visibility while making it easier for customers to connect with trusted professionals.
“We’re building this in Guyana, for Guyana,” Desir said.
“Our vision is simple: when someone needs a service, they shouldn’t have to wonder where to start. They should know exactly where to go.”
RhysList officially launches on 15 July 2026, with registration remaining open for businesses wishing to join as Founding Providers before launch.
As Guyana continues to experience rapid economic growth and an expanding small business sector, the founders hope RhysList will become the country’s trusted destination for connecting customers with local professionals while helping businesses build their reputation, expand their reach and grow through technology.
