Police Force backs Top Level Cricket Academy for Garfield Sobers U-19 tournament


The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and sport by joining a number of corporate and institutional partners in sponsoring Top Level Cricket Academy’s participation in the prestigious Garfield Sobers Under-19 Club Cricket Tournament in Barbados.
The tournament, which bowls off on Monday (July 13), brings together some of the region’s most promising young cricketers, providing an invaluable opportunity for players to test their skills against top club teams while gaining international exposure and competitive experience.
Leading the Guyanese contingent is captain Mickel Sharma, with Kishawn Silas serving as vice-captain and wicketkeeper.

Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Ravindradat Budhram, who also serves as Chairman of the GPF Cricket Committee, said the Guyana Police Force is proud to support an initiative that nurtures young talent and reinforces the values of discipline, teamwork, leadership and excellence through sport.
He extended best wishes to the team, encouraging the players to compete with determination, uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, and represent Guyana with pride throughout the tournament.
The team’s participation has also received support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, ENet, L&L Construction, CopyFix and E Timbers, reflecting a strong collaborative investment in the future of Guyanese cricket.
The squad features talented young players from the Guyana Police Force Academy, Tucber Park Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club, Georgetown Cricket Club, Rose Hall Cricket Club, Malteenoes Cricket Club and Everest Cricket Club, highlighting the depth of emerging cricket talent across Guyana.

- July 13– vs Presentation College (Trinidad and Tobago)
- July 14– vs Christ Church Foundation School (Barbados)
- July 16– vs St. Catherine’s Youth (Barbados)
- July 17– vs NY Tri-State Youth Cricket Development Inc. (USA)
- July 20– vs Alexandra School (Barbados)
Following this phase of the tournament, the winner of each of the four zones will advance to the semi-finals, followed by the grand final.
There will also be playoff matches for fifth, seventh, ninth, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st and 24th places.
