Boyce crowned national eight-ball champion

Andre Boyce has been crowned the 2026 National Eight-Ball Champion after emerging from a gruelling four-day tournament that brought together the finest cueists from across Guyana.
The tournament, jointly organised by the Cue Sports Association Guyana (CSAG) and Mobile Money Guyana (MMG), concluded after a tense final day of high-stakes manoeuvring.
A massive field of 70 elite players representing virtually every corner of the country—including Georgetown, Berbice, Linden, and Essequibo—was whittled down to a single champion.
Boyce proved to be the standout performer of the week, displaying a mix of tactical brilliance and clinical composure under pressure to secure the prestigious national title.
Jerry Josie put up a valiant effort to claim the runner-up spot following a dominant run through the knockout stages, while Mario Albert and Ritick Persaud shared third place.
“The talent on display this year has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said CSAG President Steven Persaud, reflecting on the geographical diversity of the event. “To see 70 players from so many different regions coming together proves that cue sports are thriving in Guyana.”
The tournament was heavily backed by corporate support, with title sponsor MMG investing GYD $250,000 into the championship.
MMG Chief Executive Officer Mark Singh added: “The National 8-Ball Championship showcased the discipline, determination and competitive spirit that define our nation’s athletes. We congratulate Andre Boyce on an outstanding achievement.” (Press Release)
