Guyana secures spot at inaugural FIFAe Continental Championship

Guyana have written a new chapter in their sporting history after qualifying for the first-ever FIFAe Continental Championship in Mexico.
The Golden Arrowhead will be flying high in Mexico City come 28 August, as the national eFootball™ Mobile squad prepares to test themselves against the absolute best the Concacaf region has to offer.
It marks a seismic milestone for the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), booking a first-ever ticket to the top table of FIFA’s official football esports ecosystem.
The newly minted FIFAe Continental Championships, introduced this year, serve as the cut-throat regional proving grounds following the gruelling qualifying stages of the FIFAe Nations League.
For Guyana, navigating that pathway to reach the finals represents a massive validation of the Federation’s digital gamble.
“The Guyana Football Federation is pioneering new pathways for the development of football in our country,” GFF President Wayne Forde said. “Through esports, we are creating structured opportunities for young Guyanese to develop their talents, compete internationally and proudly represent the Golden Arrowhead.”
The five-man squad heading to Mexico features a blend of seasoned cool and youthful exuberance.
Veteran competitor Christian Harris and rising star Jeremiya Johnson lead the line, flanked by the talented trio of Jaekwon Chase, Ricardo Sukra, and Ronalhdo Sobers. Daniel Idal takes the reins as Esports Operations Lead to steer the ship off the digital pitch.
For Martin Massiah, Head of Esports at the GFF, this isn’t just a flash in the pan—it is a statement of intent.
“Guyana qualifying for the first-ever FIFAe Continental Championship in eFootball Mobile is a defining moment for our programme,” Massiah insisted. “Our ambition is to establish Guyana as a recognised force in football esports throughout the Caribbean, the Concacaf region and, ultimately, the world.”
The breakthrough is the crowning achievement of GFF esports’ rapidly expanding portfolio. The nation has already established a footprint in the console iteration of eFootball, recently launched its first national Rocket League squad, and even boasts two FIFAe-certified esports referees.
