Judy Latchman appointed Chief Magistrate


The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) announced on Tuesday that Judy Latchman has been appointed Chief Magistrate.
Magistrate Latchman had been serving as Principal Magistrate since 2017.
According to the release from the JSC, she obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana in 2022 and a Legal Education Certificate from the High Wooding Law School in 2004. Magistrate Latchman was admitted to the local bar in October 2024.
Other appointments were announced by the JSC.
Ocelisa Marks, Nikkisha Logan, Jimelle Joseph, Shareefah Parks, Taneisha Saygon, and Caressa Henry were selected for appointment to the post of Magistrate. The Oath of Office for appointment to the Magistracy will be taken before Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, on Wednesday, July 15.
Meanwhile, five others were selected to serve in the Land Court. Those selected are: Deputy Registrar Alicia Lowenfield, Magistrate Annette Singh, Magistrate Alisha George, Attorney-at-law Utieka John, and Magistrate Shivani Lalaram.
