Siddle, Allen headline San Francisco Unicorns’ squad for historic GSL debut

The San Francisco Unicorns are poised to break new ground for Major League Cricket, announcing a 14-man squad infused with international experience and emerging talent for their maiden ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) campaign.

The announcement marks a watershed moment for the burgeoning American T20 circuit, with the Unicorns becoming the first-ever MLC franchise to cross borders and compete on the GSL stage.

Running from July 23 to August 1 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, the third edition of the GSL will see the San Francisco outfit test their mettle against a formidable lineup of global franchise heavyweights.

The five-team tournament features the host nation’s Guyana Amazon Warriors from the CPL, the PSL’s Lahore Qalandars, the ILT20’s Desert Vipers, and the BBL’s Perth Scorchers XI, setting the stage for a highly competitive week of cricket.

To navigate this stern challenge, the Unicorns have assembled a roster that blends seasoned campaigners with youthful exuberance.

Veteran Australian seamer Peter Siddle and dynamic West Indian allrounder Fabian Allen bring extensive global franchise pedigree to the fold, offering crucial leadership in high-pressure situations.

The squad’s batting and bowling stocks are further bolstered by the inclusion of Connor Esterhuizen, Oliver Peake, Gideon Peters, Callum Stow, and Tim Robinson.

The franchise has also leaned into versatile, multi-dimensional cricketers to balance the side. The spin-bowling utility of Hassan Khan, alongside the all-round capabilities of Hammad Azam, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, and Karima Gore, provides the tactical flexibility required on Guyanese pitches.

Rounding out the 14-man touring party are Anirudh Immanuel, Saideep Ganesh, and Ghulam Mudassar, all of whom will be eager to leave their mark against top-tier international opposition.

The Unicorns touch down in South America hoping to parlay their consistent domestic performances into global silverware.

Having reached the MLC final in 2024 and secured a credible third-place finish in 2025, the franchise is riding a wave of steady momentum.
