Superb Guyana retain Junior Caribbean Squash title

Are we witnessing the rebirth of a regional juggernaut?
Team Guyana has successfully defended its overall Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Junior Championship title, capping off a spectacular campaign on Thursday in the British Virgin Islands.
Having once claimed an unprecedented 12 consecutive championships between 2005 and 2016, Guyana’s back-to-back overall triumphs—following last year’s victory in the Cayman Islands—firmly reassert their status as the Caribbean’s premier squash power.
The formula for their 2026 success was comprehensive: an emphatic first-place finish by the Girls’ team, a hard-fought silver medal from the Boys, and a masterful haul across both the doubles and individual events.
The Girls’ team was nothing short of ruthless in their 1-3 Playoff against Barbados, sweeping the tie 4-0 without dropping a single game.
The Guyanese quartet dismantled their Barbadian counterparts with surgical precision. Alexis Arjoon set the tone by comfortably dispatching Denielle Benn (11-1, 11-2, 11-2), before Kaylee Lowe saw off Lenna Hamati (11-6, 11-3, 11-5).
Emily Fung A Fat then delivered a flawless performance against Morgan Daniel (11-0, 11-0, 11-8), and Malia Maikoo completed the rout with a commanding victory over Thalia Knight (11-9, 11-4, 11-7).
While the Girls swept to gold, the Boys’ team faced a formidable St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) side in their final, ultimately bowing out 4-0.
Despite valiant efforts from Jude Gobin, Justin Ten Pow, Shiloh Asregado, and Joshua Verwey, the Vincentians proved too strong on the day.
However, the Guyana squash fraternity remained immensely proud of the silver medal, graciously acknowledging the tactical brilliance of their opponents.
Crucial overall points were secured in the doubles arena, where Guyana claimed two of the three available gold medals.
Kaylee Lowe and Emily Fung-A-Fat paired up to win the Girls’ Doubles, while Shiloh Asregado and Egan Bulkan clinched the Boys’ Doubles title.
Ethan Bulkan and Malia Maikoo added a bronze in the Mixed Doubles to round out a stellar team effort.
The foundation for the overall championship was laid earlier in the week during the individual segment, where Guyana amassed a stunning seven medals:
