Police probing suspected murder-suicide at Parfaite Harmonie


Police are investigating a Saturday night tragedy at Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, where a 47-year-old man is suspected of killing a 42-year-old woman before reportedly shooting himself.
Dead are Ana Trotman, 42, and her estranged husband, John Trotman.
A 59-year-old woman also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and is receiving medical attention.
Police Headquarters said preliminary enquiries revealed that an argument reportedly occurred at the residence shortly before several loud explosions were heard. The News Room understands that it is alleged that the man shot Ana, before firing more shots that injured the 59-year-old man. Soon after, he reportedly shot himself.
Police ranks and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where Ana and John were found with suspected gunshot injuries. The injured woman was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
A Taurus .32 calibre pistol, nine spent .32 calibre shells, and 30 live rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene and lodged pending investigation.
The bodies of Ana and John were escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead vy a doctor on duty and were later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where they are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
Investigations are ongoing.
