Overseas based Guyanese Brenessa Thompson is having a brilliant season,  breaking Guyana’s national record for the second time this year.

Thompson clocked 22.99s in her NCAA West prelims on Saturday to become the first Guyanese woman to clock under 23s. In the process, she also lowered the women’s 200M national record once again.

Earlier this month,  Thompson ran 23. 19s to erase Aliann Pompey’s old record of 23. 33s.

The time gave Thompson her second qualification for the Rio Olympics having qualified for the games in the 100 metres as well with a season’s best of 11. 31s.
