The Guyana Badminton Association’s (GBA) four-member junior team has arrived in Aruba to compete in the Caribbean Junior Championships (CAREBACO) in from August 18-25.
The championship is divided into three mini tournaments namely CAREBACO Under-19 International (Open for all International Players); CAREBACO Under-19 Team Championships (Open only to CAREBACO Members); and CAREBACO Under-15 and Under-19 championships (Open only to CAREBACO Members).
Guyana is being represented by Sun Burst champion and Junior Sportsman-of-the-Year Narayan Ramdhani in the Under-19 International events. He will play in the Singles where he is seeded number one; in the Doubles with Jonathan Mangra where they are seeded number two; and in the Mixed Doubles with sister Priyanna Ramdhani.
Priyanna Ramdhani and Mangra will also play in the Singles events.
In the Team and Individual Under-19 championships, Narayan Ramdhani, Mangra, Priyanna Ramdhani and Ambika Ramraj will play in the Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. Priyanna Ramdhani will also play in the Under-15 championships.
“The team is expected to do well and we are aiming to medal again for the sixth year,” coach Gokarn Ramdhani said.
