Education Minister suffers fainting spell at British High Commissioner’s event

During an event this evening hosted by the British High Commissioner at his residence, Minster of Education Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine experienced a brief episode of syncope (commonly referred to as  a ‘fainting spell’).

According to the Department of Public Information, “conditions were hot and, Dr. Roopnaraine was also at the time dehydrated.

Medical attention was rendered to Dr. Roopnarine immediately and he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The Minister is reported to be in a stable, conscious and alert condition and is receiving treatment for dehydration. He is expected to be discharged subsequently.

Dr. Roopnaraine attended the event along with other government officials and guests, this evening which is being hosted in honour of Prince Harry who is in Guyana for three days.
