The police in B Division are investigating an accident that left a motorcyclist in critical condition at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
The accident which left 25 year old Jermaine McLean of Tucber Park New Amsterdam, Berbice with several broken ribs and a punctured lung occurred at about noon hours on yesterday (Sunday, January 29,2017)
News Room understands that the accident involved a motor car and a motor cycle, which both heading in opposite directions.
According to information received, motor car HC 7384 which was being driven by 35 year old Richard Wong was proceeding north along the Fort Canje Public Road when the motor cycle which was being driven by McLean was proceeding in the opposite direction.
The News Room was told that McLean was driving his motor cycle at a fast rate and as he was about to make a turn, he lost control of the motor cycle and slammed into the motor car.
Following the collision, McLean fell to the ground and sustained injuries about his body. He was picked up from the roadway in an unconscious state and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient.
The driver of the motor car has since been taken into custody for questioning.
Investigations are ongoing.
